Mount Washington
Made it a couple miles or so up Mount Washington this morning, despite the drizzle. Jason and Dean and I piled out of the car at the trailhead and promptly threw on the Gore-Tex™, only to remove it a few minutes later as the rain slowed down and our heartrates sped up. We climbed up for about two hours on a nice steep trail, with few switchbacks and lots of rocks. We made it past the Owl Hike Spot, with its rock bench and pretty amazing view (even with clouds and fog), and took one of many logging roads off the main trail to do some exploring. We ended up at a small pond, with patches of snow still hanging on, before we turned and booked it back down to the car. This one will be teasing us every time we drive beneath it, so we’ll have to get back up there with another hour to spend on our way to the summit.
Earlier this week, Jason and Dean and Kelly and I headed up Twin Falls, starting at the lower trailhead. I hadn’t been up to the falls since high school, so it was fun to see an old trail and how it had evolved over the last ten years. Nice cool weather, great views of the falls, but I’m afraid we really put the hurt on Kelly - Hopefully with a few more of these under his belt he’ll be up to speed…
